Roads Crossing Runways

Roads crossing runways are not exactly the best idea. Nevertheless, there are a few cases where it happens and cannot be avoided. The most well-known - and busiest by far - was at Gibraltar, but there are others.

Nauru International Airport, Micronesia (valid Sept 15th until Sun 21st)

Now we are going to a far more remote place: Nauru International Airport's (INU). Nauru is claimed by the slogan: Travel to Nauru, the world's least visited country.

The airport originally built in the Second World War  has a single runway. This runway cuts right through the surrounding town.  Traffic stops whenever the runway is in use.

Nauru Airlines  is the flag carrier of the Republic of Nauru. It operates scheduled international services to other Pacific islands and Australia. It operates a fleet of B737s, both passenger and freight.
